You may have already heard or seen video of Big Dog and LittleDog, robots developed by Boston Dynamics. They are set to change robotics and might one day be employed in military. The wonderful engineering and programing behind them allows for robots to keep balance, recognize and pass obstacles and pass terrain otherwise impassible for tracked or wheeled robots. Here is a demonstration video about technology behind LittleDog.

During international conference for prosthesis and orthopedics ISPO World Congress (Leipzig, Germany), BeBionic have introduce a number of miracle inventions and this bionic hand. Quite realistic and functional prototype has mio-electrical controls, this means it recognizes muscle movements of the limb it is connected to, and responds to all impulses given by nervous system. Model introduced has remote control system, which allows to configure device using software, and customize it towards the user, like specific commands or grip type. It has been proposed to manufacture it in 19 different color shades, matching skin palette. It will appear on the market in June.

Emergent Architecture and Kokkugia companies have developed a project for international exposition EXPO 2012 - futuristic Oceanic Pavilion. Construction will symbolize a combination of human and oceanic ecosystems. Oceanic Pavilion is planned to be in the center of EXPO 2012, have an interesting color palette, from purple to pink and orange and it's shape will remind of a dolphin. It will be made out of ETFE - next generation polymer materials which are light, strong and transparent, but at the same time having good thermoisolational qualities. ETFE also allows for pavilion to be easily disposed of after exposition is over.
